Close to 90% of their clients are women residing in Delaware County.

Summary of grant request/proposal

Grant funds will allow the New Choices Career Development Program to assist those affected by layoffs caused by COVID-19 closures. The program will provide individualized career counseling by video conference, create career and training plans, and offer scholarships for further online training in Microsoft Office and In- formation Technology for Medical Professions, when identified as needs in a participant’s career plan. The director has recently been trained to assist in helping clients manage personal financial situations as they navigate new issues in their lives. On-line training for participants will comprise the bulk of the grant dollars. The program will also establish a laptop loan program to allow people without technology access to participate in the career development program and conduct a job search. Proven relationships with several workforce development divisions within the county have given New Choices participants a 75% employment outcome within six months of finishing the program.

Why your committee chose this organization/grant request

Members of the Health Committee were compelled by the urgent need to provide necessary counseling services to women that are afflicted with trauma and sexual assault. Our funds would directly impact women in Delaware County which is central to Project W’s mission.
